We provide a lifeline for Jews and non-Jews in distress, at home, in Israel and across the globe. Whether it’s in response to attacks on synagogues and Jewish life, missiles raining down on Israel’s south, Hurricane Harvey in Houston or the COVID-19 global pandemic, Federation is there to help — and to rebuild.
Our network of local and international partners enables us to respond quickly and effectively. We fund urgently needed basics like food and medicine, and long-term needs like trauma counseling. We provide resources to emergency service providers so they can help where they’re most needed.
We also enable trained staff to expand their support of the most vulnerable populations, whose needs escalate during emergencies.
Federations throughout the continent rallied in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, collectively raising and allocating over $200 million to address mounting needs in their communities. They also helped overwhelmed healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic, raising millions for the purchase of personal protection equipment (PPE) , providing meals and other types of support.
At the same time, thousands of Federation volunteers stepped forward to do everything from packing up and delivering meals to the most vulnerable community members, to making check-in phone calls to isolated seniors, to holding virtual storytelling sessions for families with young children stuck at home. And much more. Learn more about our work.
After the attack at the Tree of Life Building in Pittsburgh, Federations immediately mobilized providing solidarity, financial support, and resources related to trauma and security to help the community begin to recover.
And after flooding from Hurricane Harvey devastated the Houston Jewish community, Federations sprang into action, mobilizing volunteer groups and donations to help the community support its members as it rebuilt its infrastructure.
From Operation Protective Edge to kite arson from Gaza, Federations provide trauma support for Israel's most vulnerable citizens, aid lone soldiers, offer respite to people living in the conflict zones, and help with their economic recovery.
For decades we’ve ensured humanitarian relief for those who’ve needed it most. Federation holds out a safety net. And we’ll never let it fall.
