What you’ll be responsible for:
As Vice President of the Planning and Allocations (P&A) department, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum impact of JUF’s local, national, and global allocations by leveraging data, being guided by and helping shape JUF’s priorities, deepening partnerships with volunteer leaders and agencies, and collaborating with fundraising colleagues to innovate and maximize financial resource development.
You will help establish communal consensus on the most effective way to honor the trust placed in JUF by both donors and the individuals we serve. You will provide direct oversight of the Overall Planning and Allocation Committee (OPAC) of the board, secondary oversight of several mixed board and community commissions, and represent JUF in various settings as a member of its Senior Executive Team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Work closely with JUF colleagues to increasingly leverage data, access and shape impact, and innovate to help maximize financial resource development.
- Advance department projects, facilitate establishment and communication of annual departmental and committee goals, and represent P&A for interdepartmental and/or interagency projects.
- Staff OPAC and the P&A Chairs Committee. Facilitate the planning and grant making process culminating in annual allocations to local, national, and global partners as well as the approval of the annual JUF/Federation Overall Budget. Implement authorized episodic funding initiatives. Steward lay/professional relationships.
- Maintain close and ongoing collaboration with Federation’s affiliate agencies, overseas partners (such as the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee) and other Federation departments in the creation, planning, implementation and general oversight of new and existing programs and services.
- Provide strategic oversight, leadership, and management to the three Commissions under OPAC’s purview: Health and Human Services (HHS), Community Building and Jewish Continuity (CBJC), Israel and Overseas Commission (I&O), P2G, and Kiev Kehilla.
- Supervise the four lead professional staff of each commission.
- Develop and manage P&A department budgets.
- Represent JUF with external partners (Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), Partner Agency Taskforces, etc.)
What you need to succeed:
- Advanced degree highly preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary environment and a commitment to and working knowledge of social service provision and resource development across a complex network or system.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products along with comfort in learning new systems. Willingness to learn/adapt is important.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated skill in group leadership, personnel, budget management, and working with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with departments inside and outside the organization, including all levels of staff, lay leaders and volunteers.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively in achieving department/organizational goals
- Demonstrated ability to work on and complete multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure and meet a significant number of deadlines at once.
- Knowledge of Jewish community, culture, traditions, and Jewish Communal Services/Federation system as well as Israel.
- Available to attend in-person meetings on evenings or weekends as needed at the JUF office or other community locations.
