ROLE SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant, Philanthropy & Administration plays an integral role in the Supporting Foundation, Donor Advised Funds and Endowment Accounting team. The Staff Accountant, Philanthropy & Administration is responsible for providing administrative support for the Accounting Team. This role provides support in both internal and external reporting processes, maintain up-to-date and accurate accounting records. This position reports to Senior Manager, Investment Accounting and Operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administration 40%

  • Monitor and organize incoming e-mails to centralized investments Inboxes.
  • Save and Organize Funds' Capital Statements, Reports, Tax documents, Correspondences, etc.
  • Maintain organized and thorough files (such as scanning and saving documents) to support JCF funds' transactions and accounting records for quarterly financial statements.
  • Monitor daily bank activities, save wire details, and maintain Cash books.
  • Assist in daily stock gift information inputs.
  • Coordinate information flow with third-party service providers.

Finance and Accounting 60%

  • Prepare routine accounting entries for DAF, Endowment and Supporting Foundations operating activity.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly bank account reconciliations and timely research of variances or unusual transactions.
  • Assist in the month-end close, preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and the annual audit.
  • Prepare Monthly Cash Reports for outside investment advisors.
  • Update monthly and quarterly investment valuations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Supporting Foundations' financial statements.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested.
  • Respond to requests for information and carry out special projects as assigned.


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of fund accounting strongly preferred.
  • A self-motivated team player.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong and effective communication skills to communicate directly with vendors and all levels of management.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with Netsuite a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task to balance multiple requests without losing sight of overall objectives and deadlines.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Experience in non-profit financial accounting and fund accounting strongly preferred.
