Director of Community Engagement - Vermont

We are looking for a Part-time Director of Community Engagement to join our team to direct PJ Library in Vermont and other grant initiatives.  In coordination with the Executive Director, the Director of Community Engagement would develop collaborative statewide engagement programs as well as design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for PJ Library and JCVT, to meet our overall fundraising goals throughout the year.
 

Overall Responsibility:
Reporting to  the Executive Director and designated Board members, to create and implement a PJ Library family education program in collaboration with Jewish organizations and to create and implement a fundraising Plan of Action, with our Executive Director, to identify potential donors and grants to support JCVT to reach our financial goals. 
 

Main Job Responsibilities: 
With the support of the Executive Director:

  • Develop Relationships with Jewish Educators throughout the State to collaborate in Jewish engagement programming
  • Develop relationships with PJ Library families for fundraising and to create PJ Library Parent Steering/Volunteer Group
  • Plan and implement family programs at Regional and/or large Jewish gatherings
  • Plan and implement other engagement programming, as appropriate
  • Research and apply for potential grants that would support capacity building or community building to a Jewish statewide organization in Vermont
  • Lead or assist in brainstorming and creating new methods to raise funds for JCVT
  • Assist in planning and coordinating fundraising events 
  • Create marketing materials, like flyers and brochures, to be used for the promotion of events and other fundraising pushes
  • Leverage technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities
  • Maintain complete and orderly records of grant and donor communications
  • Build upon existing donor relationships and form new donor relationships on a regular basis
  • Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities
  • Use donor management software to track donors and target audiences


JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent Relationship building skills
  • Exemplary communication abilities, including all social media platforms
  • Organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • At least one year of fundraising for a non-profit organization, including donor management and some grant writing experience
  • Graphic Design experience is a plus

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, journalism or related/applicable area
