The Community Study Manager is a key member of the Research & Evaluation team, working closely with the Director, Research and Evaluation to coordinate, support, and implement all projects and activities related to the upcoming Greater Boston Jewish Community study. This role will be responsible for developing study plan and strategies and ensuring the community study is executed successfully, on time, and on-budget. The Community Study Manager will coordinate work across departments and with multiple external partners and lay and professional community members using strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The position requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in interactions with staff, outside agencies and volunteer leadership.  Please note this is a limited 2-year position.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute the strategies, objectives, and timetables for the community study in collaboration with the Director and Associate Vice President of Research and Evaluation, updating plans as necessary to reflect challenges and changing needs of the project.
  • Plan and execute in-person and/or virtual feedback sessions and community conversations with various stakeholders, including board and committee members, organizational leaders, and community members.
  • In keeping with the assigned time for each project, responds promptly to the lay leaders involved in all forms of communication and for tracking interactions accordingly.
  • Coordinate, document, and report out status of the community study interdepartmental working group
  • Monitors deadlines and deliverables for contracted study vendor(s) on behalf of CJP, responding to changes as needed.
  • Draft written documents (memoranda, briefs, summaries, etc.) and PowerPoint presentations of findings for CJP's senior leadership, boards, and committees, and to external stakeholders
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings and set agendas to support completion of tasks and deadlines.
  • Supports monitoring and tracking of project budget.
  • Light research activities using a range of tools and/or databases to acquire and interpret data and information.
  • Maintains spreadsheets and conduct data review with a high degree of accuracy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.


  • 3-5 years of successful experience in project or program management roles (preferably in a nonprofit, human service or government organization).


  • Problem solver and active listener who seeks clarification, asks questions, and surfaces solutions.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, organizing, and implementing complex activities.
  • Ability to manage large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders and effectively present information to various audiences.
  • Capacity to manage and organize confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Self-motivation and sense of humor.
  • Ability to work independently, creatively, and flexibly in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in small teams and cross-functional departments, creating collaborative and respectful team environments, and managing operational impacts across one or more departments.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.


  • Strong personal commitment to CJP’s mission.
  • Knowledge of the Greater Boston Jewish Community and/or the Jewish communal infrastructure preferred, but not necessary
  • Experience and comfort working virtually.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is a limited 2 year position.
  • Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
