THE  ROLE:
The Chief Impact & Strategy Officer works closely with the CEO and other members of the executive leadership team. The CISO works across the entire organization to design and implement strategy, as well as interacts closely with important stakeholders and partner agencies to build trust, strengthen relationships, and ensure community initiatives are successful .
 
IMPACT:
Responsible for leading the community impact team in the redesign and implementation of investment funding, including framing community issues, developing community impact initiatives, establishing output and outcome metrics, analytics, and community focused reports. The role also works closely with the CFO, CAO & CMO to ensure all impact efforts are tied to a sustainable revenue strategy and effective communication plans. The CISO will build and direct a team of individuals who have subject matter expertise in all necessary dimensions of the impact model to include community investments, quality data management, analysis, and communication.
 
STRATEGY:
Manages JewishColumbus’s strategic planning process and helps shape a holistic strategy that reflects relevant market conditions and challenges and is actionable at all levels of the organization. Monitors execution of strategy and develops analytics to ensure everyone is aware of progress and areas for improvement. Able to drive results by developing strategic partnership and build credibility and influence with the staff, Board, senior leadership, key community stakeholders and partner agencies. Leads special projects that support JewishColumbus’s strategic goals. Promotes a climate that values and rewards innovation and creativity. Acknowledges and champions the efforts of others to "think outside the box .”
 
REPORTS TO: CEO 
SPAN OF CONTROL: 3-4 direct reports/total team of 10.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee Community Impact, JCRC, I&O, Security, Leadership and DAI Teams.
  • Lead redesign and implementation of JewishColumbus’ investment and impact strategy.
  • Establish key output and outcome metrics for all investments, streamline and centralize data collection, analytics, reports, and review process.
  • Work with Advancement and Marketing teams to use impact data to better communicate and clarify JewishColumbus’s distinct community impact and ROI.
  • Help build a data driven culture. 
  • Reimagine JCRC and I&O departments to increase relevancy and community impact.
  • Manage strategic planning process and oversee execution of new strategies.
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging trends that impact the Jewish community and help develop appropriate and timely strategies in response. 
  • Develop trusting partnerships with key stakeholders including convening partners, building coalitions, forging common agendas, organizing community awareness, and leveraging resources.
  • Serve as a thought partner to CEO and other members of the executive leadership team.
  • Advise CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Team on all matters pertaining to community impact activity and strategy, both past, present, and emerging, and report progress against key performance indicators proactively and as assigned.
  • Attend JewishColumbus and partner agency events when appropriate. 
  • Stay on top of funding trends both Jewish and nationwide. Bench marking across the field
  • Attend large community events, organization events, direct report events and other events deemed necessary by CEO

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred) with experience of at least 10 years in public policy, nonprofit management, and/or strategy.
  • Substantial executive and/or senior level leadership experience in a non-profit environment.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in direct management of employees and teams.
  • Strong understanding of the social, economic, and political landscape of Columbus, OH is preferred.
  • Executive level communication, interpersonal, political, and diplomatic skills.
  • Strong research and data analytic skills.
  • Ability to develop trust and consensus-building with strategic partners – staff, volunteers, Board Members, partner agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse interests and communities; energetic and engaging personality, enjoys working with people in different settings; donor and community focused.
  • Experience building cohesive departments, motivating teams, providing direction and clarity around goal priorities to empower and challenge individuals to perform at their highest level. Celebrates achievements. 
  • Encourages risk-taking while providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
  • Initiates and directs group change initiatives and serves as a change agent.
