India has a rich history of religious tolerance and Jews have been able to freely practice their faith there for over 2,000 years. Today, there is a small, but ancient and vibrant Jewish community in India, primarily concentrated in the Mumbai area, with smaller populations in Pune, Ahmedabad, the Konkan Villages, Cochin, Kolkata, and Delhi.

During the trip, Cabinet will travel to learn about India’s Jewish community today, its rich history and understand its challenges and how they are being addressed. They will have hands on opportunities with JDC’s rescue, relief and renewal work and engage with Jewish India today.

NYL Cabinet 2017 Study Mission Co-chairs: Stacie Friedman (Greater Metrowest, NJ) and Joshua Rubenstein (New Orleans, LA)

Eligibility: This mission is only open to NYL Cabinet members
