Mission to Ukraine: Community in Need

9:00AM - 6:00PM

Mission to Ukraine: Community in Need
June 14-18, 2015
Mission Chair:
Fred Zimmerman, Nashville

The Jewish Federations of North America is organizing a leadership mission to Ukraine to provide Federation leaders with the opportunity to gain first-hand understanding of the ongoing crisis and our responsibility to the local Jewish population who have been displaced and/or are under siege. The group will also demonstrate solidarity and learn from community leaders how we can be supportive of them during this difficult time. In addition, participants will gain insight into how our system is adapting to the new reality of a long-term overseas crisis – something we have not seen for many years.

This national federation mission, which is being organized together with JDC and the Jewish Agency, will be departing the U.S. on Sunday, June 14 and returning on Thursday, June 18. Our destination is Dnepropetrovsk – a city that is relatively close to (but not in) the conflict zone, and as a result is home to many internally displaced persons.

There will be multiple opportunities to meet the local Jewish population and hear updates on the situation, as we explore the remarkable work being carried out by our partners on the ground. A draft itinerary is available here.

For more information, please contact Donna Brown or Dani Wassner.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The mission cost is $1250. This includes all mission costs, except for airfare. Mission participants will stay at the Reikartz Hotel.
