The Arava Institute Hazon Israel Bike Ride: Costs, Registration and Other Details

Costs: Riders pay a registration fee and commit to raise at least $3600 in sponsorship.  Paying the registration fee and raising the minimum sponsorship of $3,600 together includes: round trip airfare to Israel from New York with The Ride**, arranged group flight or a $750 credit towards any flight you book on your own, return transportation from Eilat to Ben Gurion Airport or to the Tel Aviv area at the end of The Ride, bike and helmet rental if needed, all participants’ 3 kosher meals daily (plus water and mid-ride snacks), accommodations during the trip (Monday night May 9th through Tuesday afternoon May 17th*), security and technical assistance, a certified medical escort, a backup vehicle, and other necessary services to support the Ride.   Details

*Accommodations will be double occupancy in hotels, Kibbutz guesthouses, youth hostels and a potential of one night in a Bedouin tent. Single rooms may be available for an extra charge.

Note: If riders cancel, half the registration is refundable until February 1st. Thereafter, the registration fee is fully non-refundable.

Your Mission Also Includes:

  • Suitcases and other personal belongings will be transported from hotel to hotel. 
  • Support by a SAG (Support and Gear) wagon and bike mechanics – capable of assisting in bike set-up, fixing flat tires and making other adjustments to your bike all during the Ride.
  • Bike shirts for all riders. We request that riders wear these shirts so that we can be clearly identified as a group.
  • ** If you bring your bicycle: Round trip transportation for you and your bike to and from NYC; storage for your bicycle at Ben-Gurion Airport from the time you land until The Ride begins and from the end of The Ride until you depart Israel (limited to 4 days before and after the ride); transportation for your bicycle from Ben-Gurion to the start of The Ride and from Eilat back to Ben-Gurion storage. Please note that if you don’t bring a bicycle, you will be given a bicycle to use for the entire trip and The Ride will be responsible for its maintenance.

PRE-ARRIVAL AND EXTENSIONS IN ISRAEL: The Ride has arranged a special "pre-arrival" rate at the Mt. Zion Hotel of $85 per night (per single room); $100 per night (per double room). To take advantage of this offer, please provide your credit card information on the web-based registration form and the hotel will bill your credit card. The rates include full Israeli buffet breakfast. If you would like to share a double room and need a roommate The Ride's logistics team will try to assist you in finding one.  However, please notet that if The Ride is unable to do so, you will be charged for a single room.

After The Ride:  A special “extension” rate has been arranged with the Paradise Club Inn Hotel in Eilat for riders who want to extend their stay in Eilat.  The Ride will provide room and board on the evening of Monday, May 16th.  After that date, payment becomes the participant's responsibility.  The special rate is $90 per double room and $80 per single room.  Payment must be made in advance by credit card. The rates include full Israeli buffet breakfast and dinner at the hotel. If you would like to share a double room and need a roommate The Ride's logistics team will try to assist you in finding one.  However, please notet that if they are unable to do so, you will be charged for a single room.

FLIGHTS:  You and your bike may join the Group flight(s) sponsored by The Ride which include flights from New York and Boston.  You arrange for your own transportation, and The Ride will provide you with a $750 flight credit as indicated under "Costs."  Please see the registration form for the variety of options available for flights and dates.

CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations after February 1, 2005 will forfeit the registration fee.
 
COMMITMENT: Participants must commit to raise a minimum of $3,600 in sponsorship for the Arava Institute and Hazon and must pay a Registration Fee.
