Israeli Embassy1963-- Levi Eshkol's New Government Is Approved
The Knesset approved a new government led by Levi Eshkol. David Ben Gurion was appointed defense minister and Abba Eban deputy prime minister.

1967-- The UN Reports Withdrawl of Emergency Force from Gaza
On May 19, 1967, Egypt's Foreign Minister Mahmoud Riad asked United Nations Secretary-General U Thant to terminate the activities of the United Nations Emergency Force (U.N.E.F) in the Gaza. A day later, the UN flag was taken down, and the Force ceased its operations. On June 26, 1967, U Thant issued a statement that General Fawzy, Chief of Staff of the United Arab Republic Armed Forces, threatened the Commander of U.N.E.F to withdraw all U.N. troops.

1969-- Israeli Planes Bring Down Two Egyptian MIG 21s in Air Battle over The Suez Canal

1975-- Bodies of Two Lehi Activists Returned to Israel
The remains of two Lehi activists, Eliyahu Hakim and Eliyahu Bet-Zuri, who were both executed in Egypt in 1945 for the assassination of Lord Moyne in Cairo, were transferred to Israel for burial.

1988-- Japanese Foreign Minister Arrives in Israel
For the first time, Japan's Foreign Minister Sonusuke Uno arrived in Israel. He met with Israeli officials to discuss Japan's role in the Middle East and Japan's involvement in the Arab boycott against Israel.

1997-- Sino-Israel Ties Strengthen as Israel Prepares to Build New Embassy
Israel announced the building of a new $12 million embassy in Beijing, China, which would be the largest Israeli embassy in the world. The building of the new embassy would help bolster growing Sino-Israel ties.
