More than 1,300 American rabbis, including Jewish Council for Public Affairs President/CEO Rabbi Steve Gutow, have signed a letter opposing divestment that is being sent to United Methodist Church delegates. The letter opposes an anti-Israel resolution being considered at the church’s quadrennial General Conference which opens next week in Tampa, Florida. Read More.
IAN Goes to....Georgia
As this IAN Insider was being prepared, several IAN staff members were busy leading the latest IAN community mobilization in Atlanta, Georgia. The workshop kicked off this morning with a briefing by IAN Managing Director Geri Palast to board members of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Atlanta. It was followed by a full day workshop for JCRC professionals, council members, rabbis, Israel activists, lay leaders and students on utilizing strategic communications to counter delegitimization. JCPA Plenum
The JCPA Plenum is only a few short weeks away and the IAN is looking forward to providing robust content and discussions as part of the programming. Taking place May 5-8 in Detroit, Michigan, this annual event put on by the Jewish Council for Public Affairs brings together 14 national and 125 local Jewish community relations agencies. Read More.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Israel a very happy 64th birthday! This Thursday, April 26, will mark Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, which is Israel’s Independence Day. A day celebrating the birth of the Jewish democratic state of Israel is certainly a cause for celebration. For, it is on this day, that we commemorate the miraculous transformation that occurred when a wandering people came together from all points of the globe to reclaim their ancestral homeland. In an effort to strengthen the partnership between IAN and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), on April 17, JCPA Senior Vice President Martin Raffel and IAN Managing Director Geri Palast briefed senior JAFI shlichim in North America on the Jewish community’s Iran-related activity and the divestment resolutions now pending before the Methodist and Presbyterian churches.

The JCPA Annual Plenum, put on by the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, brings together 14 national and 125 local Jewish community relations agencies. The Plenum is the highest decision making body of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and will gather hundreds of Jewish leaders to study and debate the key issues of the day.
