The 2008 ILOJC will take place in Tel Aviv from November 12-16.  It will begin in the early evening of Wednesday November 12th and will go through a phenomenal night of celebration Saturday night November 15th. Since the GA will begin on Sunday afternoon November 16th in Jerusalem, a complimentary shuttle transfer will be offered for those participants going on to attend the GA.

What are the hotels for this year’s ILOJC?
The hotels are the David InterContinental, the Hilton and the Carlton in Tel Aviv. The only way to get a hotel room for the ILOJC is by registering online; see below for information on the registration waitlist.

See below for information on the registration waitlist.

• Adult daughters, daughters-in-law, nieces and granddaughters are invited to register along with a Lion of Judah attending the conference and will be included in the community caucuses, and expected to make their gifts at that time. See below for information on the registration waitlist.

REGISTRATION

How do I register?
Due to overwhelming demand, the 2008 UJC International Lion of Judah Conference (ILOJC) has reached capacity.

There is now a waitlist for the ILOJC, and there is a very good chance that many people on the waitlist may ultimately be able to register for the conference. If you are interested in being added to the list, please e-mail ilojc@wyndhamjade.com.  If you are already signed up for the ILOJC, please consider the option of sharing a room, as we would like to accommodate as many participants as possible.

However, registration is still open for the 2008 UJC General Assembly, right after the ILOJC, on Nov. 16-19 in Jerusalem. Register here for the GA, the JAFI Assembly, and more than 40 federation Israel missions during that period.

Please check this FAQ and the rest of the ILOJC Web site regularly to read updates about availability, the conference program and more.

What are the registration fees for the ILOJC?
Lions = $600
Lion Kings (Spouses/Significant Others)  = $600
Next Gen (Female Relative over 21 years of age ) = $600

• Pricing for the conference, exclusive of airfare, is as follows. The conference registration fee is $600. The price for the ILOJC hotel rooms is $500 for the four nights of the event. This cost is per person for double occupancy. If you would prefer your own room, there is a $400 single-supplement fee, so the total hotel room cost would be $900. The registration and hotel costs mentioned here will cover all program costs, buses, transfers, food and beverage, etc.  This does NOT include airfare.

*The GA registration fee for all participants who plan to go to both the International Lion of Judah Conference and the GA will be covered by the registration fee for the Lion Conference, but they need to register for the GA and to reserve/pay separately for hotel rooms for the GA.

What is the ILOJC cancellation policy?

Conference Cancellation Fee:
As of July 1  -- $150
As of November 1 -- $300

Hotel Cancellation Fee:
As of September 1  -- $250 (per person)
As of November 1 -- $500 (per person)

Please note that missions and the GA also have cancellation fees. For mission cancellation fee details, please contact your mission coordinator at your local federation.   For GA cancellation details, please check that conference FAQ.

I’d like to travel to the GA as part of a local group. How do I know if there’s one being formed in my area?
Please contact your local federation to see if they are arranging to travel as a group. They may also be organizing an Israel mission in conjunction with their GA participation.
Click here to find your local federation.

NOTE:  For  ILOJC  participants who also wish to attend the GA, there is no registration fee for the GA! That cost is covered by your registration fee for the ILOJC. However, you must indicate on your registration form for the ILOJC that you will also be attending the GA!

Hotel accommodations for the GA are available on the registration form, and have nothing to do with ILOJC arrangements.

I'm traveling independently, not as part of a group or mission. Do I register for the event and hotel first, or make flight arrangements first?
You can register for the event and reserve a hotel room before you have flights. Once you book your flights, please make sure that they are consistent with your hotel check-in and check-out dates. Please add your flight details to your registration as soon as you have made those arrangements.

What if I need to modify my registration to change my arrival or departure details or other information?
Please send any change requests to
Israel2008@wyndhamjade.com. An adjustment confirmation will be sent to you.

Why do I need to supply passport information on the registration form?
This is needed for security purposes. Additionally, by Israeli law, hotels must have your passport information in order to reserve a room.

How do I register for a hotel?
The online ILOJC reservation form will ask if you require a hotel room with any special arrangements.  You will be notified with regard to your hotel assignment approximately 30 days prior to the ILOJC.

How much will my hotel room cost?
The price for the ILOJC rooms is $500 for the 4 nights.  If  a participant wants her own room,  there  is a $400 single-supplement, so the total would be $900. If a participant  wants a room before or after the conference dates, they will  so indicate on the form online and the land agent will contact participants who have made this request on the registration form online.

What if I plan to share a room? Do we both have to reserve a room?
If you wish to reserve a hotel room for the ILOJC, you must register separately for that room, even if you are sharing with another person.  You will be asked to name your roommate, and each person should indicate the name of the roommate at the time of registration.*   Each registrant will be charged $500 for the 4 nights of the conference, unless you request a single room, in which case an additional $400 will be charged for the Single Supplement.  The total cost for a single room for the conference, without a roommate, is $900.

*Please note that if one roommate cancels, the remaining person will be charged for a single-person room.

What should I do if my community’s pre-ILOJC mission isn’t listed on the registration form?
Please contact your local federation.
Click here for our Federation Finder tool.

I gave my federation a deposit for the pre-ILOJC mission I will be going on. Do I need to give another deposit, as requested on the registration form?
Yes; the deposit is required to complete registration.

TRAVEL

What's the weather usually like in Tel Aviv in November?
The weather in Tel Aviv during the month of November is mild. Temperatures range from 60-75°F.

How should I dress for the ILOJC?
Dress for the ILOJC is casual and comfortable, especially on trip day (Thursday). You may wish to wear some nicer outfits (but still casual) for the evening programs and for Shabbat. Given the autumn weather, we recommend that you bring a jacket and/or raincoat.  The key is to wear what makes you happy & comfortable!  Click here for a more detailed 'What to Wear' guide.

Will food provided by the ILOJC be Kosher?
Any meals provided by UJC at the ILOJC will be Kosher.

What provisions are made for those with disabilities?
Please indicate the disability and special needs in the box provided on the registration form  and we will be happy to address your needs .

How do I book my flight?
Gil Travel is available to handle your travel needs. For GA, ILOJC travel, and for missions, call their New York office at 1-212-284-6668; you may, of course, use any travel agent of your choosing.

Do I need a special visa? Are there any special passport regulations?
A valid passport is required for all U.S. participants. Please note that your passport must be valid for at least six months after your departure date. There is no visa requirement for U.S. citizens traveling to Israel. Other nationals should contact the appropriate consulate to find out about their regulations. No inoculations are required at present for travel to Israel, but please check with local public health authorities for up-to-date information.

Can I use U.S. dollars during my trip, or will I need to get Israeli currency?
The constantly changing exchange rates due to the strong Shekel and weaker U.S. Dollar have forced some businesses to post prices only in Israeli Shekels. We suggest that you use your credit cards for purchases or when going out to dinner, and use Israeli currency for taxis, etc. There are ATM's throughout Israel where you can withdraw Israeli Shekels from your account at a favorable exchange rate.

What if I wish to extend my stay at the hotel past the end of the ILOJC?
When you click the box on the form for hotel extensions and adjustments, and/or enter any modifications in the box online, the information will go to the appropriate agent who will then contact you within 72 hours.

How will I get to and from Ben Gurion Airport?
Airport transfers will be provided for ILOJC participants as is possible; we will have buses shuttling to the hotels in Tel Aviv from Ben Gurion airport for most of the flights arriving in anticipation for the ILOJC.  As soon as we receive all the required information from registrants, we will be able to arrange transfers based on the flights taken. You will be informed ahead of time if your flight will be met at the airport.  Otherwise, transfers from and to the airport are available by taxi or shuttle.

If I am attending the International Lion of Judah Conference and the GA, how do I get from my Tel Aviv hotel to my Jerusalem hotel?
UJC will provide transfers from ILOJC hotels in Tel Aviv to GA hotels in Jerusalem on November 16 for those registered for both conferences.
