The Jewish Federations of North America assists each Federation in every step of the planning and implementation of its Washington Mission, and is happy to provide suggestions on dates, programming and anything else the Federation needs to make its mission a success.  Missions can be specifically designed for such target groups as Women’s Division, Business and Professionals, Singles, Young Leadership, etc.  Missions also can be tailored to address specific areas of interest – such as elder care, homeland security or interfaith relations – or to address general public policy issues that impact the Jewish community.  The kinds of activities that can be included in missions are:

  • Meetings or lunch with your Senators and Representatives

  • By Jonathan Levine/UJC
Lobby elected officials for more government funding of your community’s human service programs

  • Meetings with federal agency officials to advance the Jewish Federations of North America domestic agenda

  • Briefings from White House officials about domestic policy issues of concern to the Jewish community

  • Briefings from Israeli Embassy officials about the current situation in Israel

  • Visits to officials at embassies of Arab countries to discuss their views on the Israel-Palestinian situation

  • Visits to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum

  • Briefings from other national Jewish organizations in Washington, (the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Hillel, National Conference on Soviet Jewry, the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, the American Jewish Committee, AIPAC, the Orthodox Union, United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism and others.)
