What are the dates of this year’s GA?
The 2009 GA will take place in Washington, DC from November 8-10, 2009.
What is the Washington venue for this year’s GA?
The General Assembly venue is the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington (2660 Woodley Road NW). The Marriot provides the convenience of sleeping rooms and the GA convention facility all under one roof.

How can I find out about programming scheduled for the GA?

The opening plenary will begin at 2 pm on Nov. 8, and the closing plenary is slated to end at 2 pm on Nov. 10, and is followed by community visits to Capitol Hill. Additional pre- and post-GA events will be added to the online program as they are scheduled.

On-site Registration Update
Due to security, there will be no on-site registration on Monday or Tuesday.
On-site registration will be available for a cost of $700 in the lower Atrium of the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel on Saturday, November 7th from 6 PM - 10 PM and Sunday, November 8th from 7AM - 9PM.
Pre-registered attendees (attendees who have registered on-line and have an email confirmation) can check-in Monday, November 9th from 7 AM – 9 PM and Tuesday, November 10th from 7 AM – 12 PM.
Update: Interest in attending the 2009 GA has continued to grow, especially with President Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu scheduled to speak. We currently expect more than 3,000 people to attend the GA. While advance online registration closed as of midnight Oct . 29, we will continue to accept a limited number of on-site registrants during the GA in Washington . While every effort will be made to allow all participants to attend the 11 a.m. plenary sessions with these leaders, we will also provide a special on-site live TV feed nearby, to accommodate the expected large number of participants. Priority for plenary seating will be given to those who registered before the deadline. On-site registration will take place Saturday, Nov. 7, from 6 pm to 10 pm, and Sunday, Nov. 8, from 7 am to 9 pm Please call the GA Helpline at ( 212) 284-6990 with questions. What is the GA cancellation policy?
Regular GA Registration: Cancellations will be charged a $50
fee if cancelled by Sept. 30, and a $150 fee until Oct. 29. The cancellation fee after Oct. 29 will be $250.
Day Rate: Cancellation fees are $50 until Oct 29. There are no refunds for Day Rate cancellations received after Oct. 29th.

How do I register for a hotel?
A block of rooms has been set aside at a discounted rate of $267 plus tax / per night for GA attendees. Reserving your hotel room is part of the online registration form for the GA, and a credit card will be required to secure your reservation. For hotel reservation cancellations and other changes, please call the Marriott Wardman Park at 1-800-228-9290. If you cancel after October 29th, you will be charged for one night’s stay.

What's the weather usually like in Washington in November?
The weather in Washington during the month of November is cool; the average high temperature is 58 degrees.
Will food provided by the GA be Kosher?
Any meals provided at the GA will be under the kosher supervision of Vaad Harabonim of Queens, NY. A kosher lunch will be served in the Exhibit Hall on Monday, and kosher food will be available throughout the GA at the kosher café. More details on the availability of kosher food during the GA will be forthcoming on this FAQ.
I'll be in Washington before the GA. What are my Shabbat options?
UJC will compile a list of local options for which GA registrants are welcome; please return to this FAQ closer to the event to find several options.
Daily services will be held, commencing with Mincha on Sunday, Nov. 8. Please check the GA’s online program for exact times and locations.
What provisions are made for those with disabilities?

Are there any security measures I should be aware of?
For security reasons, GA badges must be worn at all GA events. Badges will be provided when you check in at the GA registration booth. Metal detectors and other security measures may also be in place for some sessions. Non-registered persons will not be allowed access to any GA events. UJC reserves the right to withdraw the credentials of any delegate to the GA. No unauthorized print materials may be distributed, and no solicitation is permitted.
