Ari Y Kelman is an Assistant Professor of American Studies at UC Davis. With Steven M. Cohen, he is the co-author of two recent studies on contemporary Jewish culture. He was also the primary researcher on a project about synagogue transformation in America, and is collaborating on a book analyzing the findings. He has written, spoken and taught widely about Jewish culture in America, and is the author of “Station Identification: A Cultural History of Yiddish Radio in America” (forthcoming: University of California Press). He has held positions at HUC, the American Jewish Historical Society and the University of Pennsylvania, and is happy to be settled in California after an arduous sojourn on the East Coast.
