JSSA’s Employment and Career Services supported employment team has given hope to and made a significant difference in the lives of many adults with special needs who seek meaningful employment. Our team has a well-designed methodology for assisting our special needs clients obtain and retain meaningful employment and self-sufficiency. Vocational Assessment, job readiness workshops, one on one job development, coaching, employer advocacy and transitioning youth and building relationships with schools are but a few of the services we provide. We are seeking a full-time Employment Support Specialist.
Candidate will have at least 3 years of proven experience providing job readiness training to individuals with disabilities. Bachelors or Master’s degree in Special Education, psychology or other related and relevant course of study required. Successful candidate will have a track record of developing relationships with area companies as potential employers for individuals with special needs. Additional duties include assisting with job search, resume development and on-site employer advocacy. Exceptional customer service and communication skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment with rigid deadlines are necessary attributes. Occasional evening hours, weekends and holidays may be required. Reliable independent transportation and incumbent will be based out of our Silver Spring office but will travel regularly to the Ina Kay location. Spanish speaking a plus.
