Position Overview

The Vice President of the Jewish Community Foundation is primarily responsible for charitable gift planning, donor relationship development and asset enhancement as it pertains to securing the future of the services and programs of the Jewish Federation of SPBC. 

The Vice President of the Jewish Community Foundation will work with the Chair and the Board and will have overall responsibility for managing the Foundation, its operations, programs and activities, staffing the Foundation Board committees, supervising Foundation staff and as an active member of the FRD team.

Major Responsibilities

  • Direct solicitation of outright, life income, and deferred gifts through personal connections, visits, and communications.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with prospective and existing donors using the total financial-resource development approach.
  • Personalize donor illustrations on the philanthropic and financial benefits, and the tax implications, of charitable gifts.
  • Plan and implement ongoing donor and prospect relationships with emphasis to enhance the “unrestricted” endowment fund.
  • Work with the professional advisors to achieve the proper philanthropic solutions for their clients
  • Prepare reports, planning documents, and special assignments as requested by the EVP, Financial Resource Development.
  • Manage liaison assignments with the annual campaign and with various beneficiary agencies
  • Develop and deliver presentations on planned-gift and endowment development to groups of donors and professional advisors.
  • Promote the JCF through personal visibility at community events and marketing materials
  • Maintain a current knowledge of relevant tax laws and their impact on charitable giving, including regular attendance at educational and professional seminars.
  • Facilitate the work of various endowment fund committees.
    Oversee the preparation and distribution of annual donor reports
    Other assignments as needed or directed by departmental management.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required- particularly in finance, investments, tax, or accounting - advanced degree in law or related ­- preferred
  • Significant fundraising or sales experience is beneficial; experience in planned-gift development is preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and oral and written communication skills and ability to develop good rapport with a wide range of estate planning professionals and donors.
  • Demonstrated strong management and leadership experience in team building.
