The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford (the JCF) seeks a dynamic President & CEO to lead this successful Foundation into a thriving and vibrant future. For more than 39 years, the Foundation has invested in the Greater Hartford Jewish community and has helped donors meet their philanthropic goals. Today, with approximately $85.2 million in assets under management, over 1000 individual charitable funds, annual grants of $2.8 million, and an operating budget of $1 million, the JCF is among the largest foundations awarding grants in the Greater Hartford region.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide vision and leadership to a significant Jewish philanthropic institution well positioned for continued growth and impact in the Greater Hartford community. Working with an up to 16-member Board of Directors and a staff of 8 the CEO will lead a Foundation committed to continuing to build a vibrant and sustainable Jewish community of the future.
The CEO must have the skills to build on the organization’s strengths and set the future course. S/he must preserve the Foundation’s reputation for strong fiscal accountability, integrity, and standards of excellence. At the same time, s/he must provide clarity of vision, increase the Foundation’s assets and visibility, attract new donors, strengthen and extend its strategic partnerships, especially in the Jewish community, and ensure that its grantmaking is deliberate, responsive and effective. The CEO will also be expected to provide creative leadership and management direction that supports a productive, engaged staff environment.
This position calls for an outstanding leader with a demonstrated passion for the Foundation’s mission and values and a strong sense of Jewish identity. Strong candidates will bring integrity, excellent relationship and team-building skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to be a positive spokesperson for the organization. A track record in or an appetite for asset development is required, along with strong financial and business acumen. Experience with non-profit organizations and/or with grantmaking institutions is ideal and non-profit board governance experience is preferred.
