Position Summary

The Executive Director of the YJCC is the Chief Executive Officer reporting to the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director acts as the “ambassador” for the YJCC  when interacting with members, potential members and the community.  This individual is responsible for the overall management and administration of the YJCC’s business operations, services and programming which are consistent with the overall mission, financial and fundraising objectives of the organization.  Areas of responsibility include operations and planning, budgeting and overall fiscal management, community relations as well as staff management and development.


1.  Operations and Planning

  • Oversee overall operations of the organization including the facilities management
  • Develop and/or execute the organization’s strategic plan consistent with the core values of the YJCC
  • Develop creative approaches in order to consistently maintain and grow membership; ensure appropriate systems are in place in order to monitor member statistics
  • Evaluate and oversee all programs, services and activities in order to ensure that program goals and community objectives are met
  • Continuously be aware of demographic trends within the YJCC community in order to identify needed areas of service
  • Communicate with the Board of Directors as required

2.  Budgeting and Fiscal Management

  • Develop metrics system in order to evaluate effectiveness of programs, services and activities
  • Work with ‘key’ individuals to facilitate fundraising efforts with regard to Capital Campaign and operating expenses
  • Develop, monitor and make appropriate recommendations with regard to actual and forecasted operating budget
  • Approve expenditures
  • Ensure proper fiscal recordkeeping and reporting
  • Provide financial data to the Board of Directors as required

3.  Community Relations

  • Identify and cultivate relationships within the community with current members, potential members and business leaders
  • Represent the YJCC through participation in broader general community activities
  • Partner with other local Jewish community organizations and agencies in order to identify synergies that would prove to be beneficial to the YJCC

4.  Staff Management & Professional Development

  • Continuously assess, evaluate and train senior staff in order to ensure their ability to meet their position’s responsibilities as well as the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Provide leadership and counsel to senior staff


  • Minimum 10 years experience in business management/operations role (profit or not for profit) with $5 - $10M budget
  • Proven ability establishing budgets and delivering results within or exceeding budget
  • Fundraising experience or equivalent
  • Proven effective management/leadership experience with staff and lay leadership
  • Ability to drive and facilitate change
  • Short and long-term strategic planning and execution
  • Experience as lay leader of various Jewish community organizations is a plus
