Planning & Agency Relations Senior Planning Associate

Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit

This position reports to the Director of Planning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Acts as liaison to Federationís constituent agencies, as assigned, for community planning and funding.

  • Works closely with lay leadership on monitoring program and financial data of the agencies, and on preparing materials for planning and decision-making.

  • Takes primary lead on reviewing constituent agenciesí budgets, quarterly financial statements and annual audits. Identifies any issues that arise, clarifies same with agency staff, and presents information to appropriate Federation staff.

  • Collects, prepares and monitors statistics to determine service needs.

  • Works closely with agencies and lay leadership to develop planning and allocations recommendations to the Jewish Federation and United Jewish Foundation Boards of Governors and other appropriate Federation Oversight Committees.

  • Assists agencies with identifying additional resource opportunities and with grant writing as needed.

  • Conducts planning studies and evaluations of agenciesí programs and performance.

  • Interfaces with other Jewish organizations and related agencies in the community-at-large on planning projects to enhance overall service to the community.



REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES


  • Bachelorís degree

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

  • Understands and can interpret financial reporting documents and research statistics

  • Organizational and planning skills

  • Knowledge of not-for-profit field

  • Computer literacy



PREFERRED SKILLS


  • Masterís degree in Social Work, Accounting, Business Administration or related field

  • Experience in Community Planning and Agency Relations

  • Experience with researching and writing grants

  • Working knowledge of Federation

  • Knowledge of the Jewish community
